Under existing laws, restricting international students to one online course a semester on most F-1 visas – a move that would put them in breach of their visa requirements – would expose them to a potential loss of F-1 status, possible deportation for up to 10 years and a reentry ban to the USA. The excitement of studying at an international university can fade quickly once you land in a foreign country.
